On August 23, 2007, the Private Security and Investigative Services Act came into effect. The new law requires security industry workers to be licensed, including some that were not licensed previously.
If you are a security guard, private investigator, bodyguard, bouncer or loss prevention personnel, you must now apply for a license from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
Agencies that sell security services still need to be licensed and must renew annually.
